Ski Lucky Fruit

There’s a tasty yogurt down here in the land of Oz that’s got everyone licking their lips: Ski by Dairy Farmers. I’ve tried this yogurt myself, and while I’m not a huge fan of yogurt - this made me reconsider my avoidance of yogurt altogether. Along with the yummy yogurt, on the site you’ll find free downloads, some funny short videos (Pulped Fiction), the TV adverts with a great design to top it all off. The site requires flash to view, but if you turn JavaScript off in your browser you will see the HTML version. There’s even nutritional information on there for the calorie conscious, which can be found under the ‘Lucky Fruit’ link. So view the Ski Lucky Fruit website and get hooked on Ski yogurt!

Alexa Rank Gone Wrong?

It seems lately my Alexa rank is getting worse with each update. It was somewhere in the low 400,000s and now it’s back over 500,000. Maybe it’s because I became slack with my blogging - but I promise I’ll become more motivated and continue to blog regularly.

Wordpress 2.3 Release Scandal: The Aftermath

After the Internet went crazy over the release of Wordpress 2.3 and with Wordpress 2.4 already on the horizon, plus the scandal that came to light about certain issues as the new release, codenamed Dexter, spying on it’s users; individuals have hit backs with claims such as Matt Mullenweg’s:

As mentioned in our release announcement, the update notification sends your blog URL, plugins, and version info when it checks api.wordpress.org for new and compatible updates. It does not include $_SERVER dumps, or any settings beyond version numbers (for checking compatibility), or your blog name, or your credit card number. We do provide a way of disabling this feature; in fact I link to one of the plugins in the release announcement and in my original response to Morty’s thread.

But it’s not all bad news - some things apparently went right with Wordpress 2.3. This isn’t the first scandal to rock Wordpress. It was previously found that Wordpress ‘intentionally violated Google Adwords TOS to make money‘. This article also just goes to show that even sometimes developers cross the line.

If you’re one of the many who are paranoid about sharing their information, then I suggest grabbing the 2 following plugins: Disable Wordpress version check and Disable Wordpress plugin updates. But don’t think Matt Mullenweg is the bad guy in this situation - some credit must go out to him for linking these plugins in his original posts elsewhere around the internet. If you’re simply fed up with Wordpress and this is the final straw - consider 9 Wordpress alternatives.

I didn’t write this article with the intention of flaming anybody or provoking an argument - I simply want to generate some discussion on the matter.

Your thoughts in the comments.

Wordpress 2.3 Released, Internet Goes Crazy

That’s right, Wordpress 2.3 “Dexter” has been released to the interweb. Now usually when there’s a Wordpress upgrade, everyone goes stir crazy and wants to update their blog to the latest and greatest version. But of course, riding on the back of this great news comes scandal - apparently WP 2.3 spies on it’s users. Slashdot has the full lowndown in the previous link, so check it out and let me know your thoughts. I won’t be upgrading in the coming days for the simple reason that Wordpress 2.3 doesn’t play nicely with many current plugins.

A Momentous Occasion Or Two

Well, as the title promises there’s been not one, but two momentous occasions here at forgedeuphoria.com in the past few weeks. The first one, which is most likely no so momentous, is that I have passed the 10,000 spam mark! That’s right, the spammers love my blog so much that they’ve tried to sell their generic Viagra on my site over 10,000 times. I simply can’t contain the warm fuzzy feeling inside, knowing that my blog is loved so much.

The second occasion, which is slightly more momentous, is that I have aged yet another year. Yes, I am another 365 days wiser. I’m a bit late in revealing this (my birthday was on September 20) but some super secret projects I’ve been working on have kept me away from blogging. But do not fear - I am back and ever so ready to blog.

Over and out.

Back From The Dead

I am speaking to you from beyond the grave.. or am I? Turns out I’m not, seeing as here I am once more reviving this blog. It seems this is becoming a more frequent occurrence - maybe a sign I need to get back into blogging more often? I’ll hold myself to that.

Lame Exploit Attempt

To the lame person (WHOIS on the domain returned the name Ozmen Kucukuysal) who tried to use the Wordpress myGallery exploit on me, badluck it doesn’t work because I don’t have the plugin installed. :) Attempted with this link, obviously trying to use r57shell. The lame ‘Walking on Sunshine’ midi on your site, doesn’t help either. Turned out that was a flash that I had open, my bad.
